What it is and when to use it
The NWPL PP spun cartridge is a melt-blown polypropylene sediment filter with a gradient depth structure, sparse outside and dense inside. It is the standard, economical pre-filter for RO systems, drinking water and process water, available from 1 to 100 micron and in 10″ to 40″ lengths.
Melt-blown cartridges are formed from entwined, bonded polypropylene fibres. Because the pores get finer toward the core, larger particles are trapped near the surface and finer ones deeper inside, which uses the full thickness of the cartridge and gives good dirt-holding capacity for its cost.
NWPL supplies micron ratings of 1, 5, 10, 25, 50 and 100 in lengths of 10″, 20″, 30″ and 40″, in standard 2.5″ and 4.5″ jumbo diameters. Standard packing is 25 pieces per carton, supply capacity is 500–10,000 pieces per week and samples are available on request. The all-PP construction suits a wide range of water chemistries.

What does "gradient depth filtration" mean in a spun cartridge?
The cartridge is looser on the outside and denser toward the core. Large particles are caught near the surface while smaller ones travel deeper before being trapped, so the whole wall thickness holds dirt rather than just the outer skin. This gives a spun cartridge more dirt-holding capacity than a surface filter of the same rating.
When should a PP spun cartridge be replaced?
Replace it when differential pressure across the housing rises to the limit set by the system designer, or when downstream quality starts to drop. On RO systems, a quick rise in cartridge pressure drop often signals an upstream problem worth investigating. Keep a log of change dates and pressure readings to set a practical interval.
