What it is and when to use it
The NWPL TPF 05/02 is a bag filter housing cast entirely in polypropylene, with no metal parts in contact with the liquid. Use it for corrosive acids, alkalis and plating or etching chemicals at normal temperature, where a metal housing would corrode or contaminate the product.
An all-polymer wetted path eliminates the metal corrosion that can shorten housing life and introduce metal ions into sensitive liquids. Polypropylene offers outstanding resistance to acids and alkalis, and the housing is quick to install and can be recycled at the end of its life.
The trade-off is temperature and pressure. PP housings are intended for normal-temperature operation, and plastics lose strength as they heat up, so hot liquids belong in a housing rated for heat. Pair the TPF 05/02 with a PP filter bag to keep the entire assembly metal-free and chemically consistent.
Use it for
- Acids, alkalis and other corrosive liquids at normal temperature
- Electroplating, etching and chemical dosing lines
- Liquids that must not pick up metal contamination
- Sites that want a lightweight, recyclable housing
How to choose
- Confirm the liquid temperature is within normal-temperature operation
- Check the chemical compatibility of PP and seal materials with every component in the liquid
- Verify that the design flow and operating pressure suit a plastic housing
- Pair with a PP filter bag to keep the assembly metal-free
- Support the connected pipework so it does not load the housing connections
Frequently asked questions
Why use a polypropylene filter housing instead of stainless steel?
Many acids, chloride-bearing solutions and plating chemicals corrode metals, including stainless steel. A polypropylene housing like the TPF 05/02 has no metal parts inside, so there is nothing to corrode or leach metal ions into the liquid. It is lighter, quick to install and recyclable.
Can the TPF 05/02 PP housing be used with hot liquids?
The TPF 05/02 is designed for normal-temperature operation. Polypropylene loses strength as temperature rises, so it is not the right choice for hot process liquids. For hot duties, discuss a suitably rated housing with our team, and pair it with a PE or TPF high-temperature bag.
Which filter bag should I use in a PP filter housing?
A PP filter bag is the natural match: it shares the same chemical resistance and keeps the assembly metal-free. For finer retention in corrosive duty, a TXL membrane bag with a PP grade can be used. Confirm the bag size with us so it fits the housing correctly.
