What it is and when to use it
The NWPL TXL membrane filter bag has a PTFE microporous membrane laminated on its surface, giving 0.5 micron filtration precision. Use it when a standard felt bag cannot achieve the clarity you need, or when fine particles must be captured on the surface so the cake releases cleanly.
The membrane layer does the filtering, while the backing fabric provides strength. Because particles are held on a smooth, clean membrane surface instead of embedding in felt fibres, the bag delivers high filtration efficiency at a fine rating and resists the gradual blinding that affects felt at 0.5 micron.
The TXL bag is available with the membrane on PP, PE or PTFE, so the backing can be matched to the temperature and chemistry of the liquid, following the same material rules as the standard PP and PE bags. Expect a higher pressure drop than a coarse felt bag, and place a coarser stage upstream when solids loads are heavy.

What does the PTFE membrane layer do on the TXL filter bag?
The PTFE microporous membrane forms the filtering surface. It retains fine particles down to 0.5 micron on a smooth outer layer, so solids build up as a surface cake rather than lodging inside the fibres. That gives high filtration efficiency and a cleaner surface than felt at the same fine rating.
Which TXL grade should I choose: PP, PE or PTFE?
The grade refers to the base material combined with the membrane. PP suits acidic and alkaline liquids at normal temperatures, PE suits hotter duties and needs more mechanical strength, and PTFE is chosen for the most chemically aggressive conditions. Can a TXL membrane bag replace a cartridge filter?
In many cases, yes. A 0.5 micron membrane bag can take over fine-filtration duties that would otherwise need cartridges, using an existing bag housing.
